Camp Dudley, a YMCA boys camp in upstate New York, is the oldest camp in the country. Their motto, is “the Other Fellow
First.” Given our mission, we feel their motto suits us, too.
First.” Given our mission, we feel their motto suits us, too.
We basically perform three functions:
1. When a family is in trouble, the first dollars of help are the most important. Because we are small, we don’t have elaborate grant protocols and can respond instantly. We work closely with organizations like: the YMCA, the Red Cross, local churches, the NJ Community Food Bank, the NJ Community Foundation and the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad and Family Promise.
2. We also help local organizations by advising them on their finances and the need to stay in front of the public by constantly refreshing their story.
3. Winston Churchill reminds us: “We make a living by what we get and a life by what we give.” By acting as the hub of the community distress wheel, we think we provide the community with easy and simple ways to enjoy the blessings that come from giving.
Most Summit non – profits are good at providing a community service of one kind or another. Take the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad as an example. These selfless folks, have the back of every Summit family in town. They are all volunteers and live to serve their neighbors when they are in need. They are all about helping others and very bashful about asking for help themselves.

In 2013, after 50 years, their facility needed to be rebuilt. Because they are such wonderful people, and uncomfortable asking for money, we took over their capital campaign and raised the required $5,000,000 in less than two years.
Summit has many organizations like the Squad who provide enormous community benefit and are bashful about blowing their own horn. We try to help by telling their story for them.
